On October 22nd, 1916, French armies, under the action of World War I, conquered the city of Korca and it ssurroundings. The Greek units of King Konstantin, who was suspected as a collaborator of the Austro-Hungarians, were forced to leave. But, immediately, the supporters of the Provisional Government, in Thessaloniki, took their place.
