In Luaras, Kolonja on January 19th, 1900 was born Skënder Luarasi, democrat, writer, translator and lecturer. He finished his studies in the United States and Austria.After graduation he worked as a teacher in Vlore, Tirana and Shkodra. Volunteer in international brigades in the Spanish civil war, where besides the guns used and the microphone too, making him the first Albanian radio-phonic correspondent. After the liberation he worked as editor and translator in the Publishing House “Naim Frashëri” and then as a professor of foreign languages at UT. Skender Luarasi has written many works and albanianized some English and German authors.
