The insurgents from Kosovo, on March 17th, 1903, after a fierce fighting liberated Vushtrin and were addressed to Mitrovica, where were focused about 3000 Turkish soldiers. The Ottoman invaders, to maintain their positions used the artillery against the insurgents. The Russian Consul, describing this as unequal battle, stated that the massacre killed 200 Albanian insurgents.
