On October 14th 1848, the well known Briton painter Eduard Lir wrote in his diary, for his achievement there, for their pictures that he painted in Berat and for his day of leaving. ‘I can’t hire my regret that I am leaving behind a sight so magnificent”, he wrote. Many pictures realized by him in Berat and in all Albania, are well preserved till today.
