From 12 to 19 May 1997, in San Petersburg, Russia, was held the International Conference of Albanology devoted to the 85th anniversary of the birth and fifth anniversary of the death of prominent Russian albanologist Anja Vasiljevskaja Desnickaja. The Albanian academician Shaban Demiraj also participated in this conference, as well as researcher Kolec Topalli. In 1957, she founded the branch of Albanian Language and Literature at the University of Petersburg. From 187 studies that are publish by her, 73 are dedicated to Albanian language, literature and folklore.
