On May 28, 1944, the Nazi invaders financed the June Operation, aimed at destroying the forces of the National Liberation Army in South Albania and then in Middle and North Albania. The incursion was attended by 40,000 Vermaht soldiers and 10,000 mercenaries, equipped with 560 mortar balls, about 70 tanks, a number of aircraft and warships. After a month of fierce fighting, the June Operation failed, and the conqueror could not undertake such magnitudes.
