On July 12, 1912, the rebellion units that taxed in the northeastern provinces of Kosovo undertook a bloody battle against Ottoman forces. At the same time in Pristina, Novipazar and Vucitern, the people of the cities rose and Turkish commander Fadil Pasha was forced to terminate the punitive operation. On 12 July, the rebels surrounded Gjakova. The Turkish garrison of the city refused to fight against Albanians and this forced the commando to enter into negotiations with the insurgents.
