On March 1827, in Corfu, Vangjel Meksi published and albanianized the “New Testament”. The book was published under the auspices of Grigor Gjirokastriti, was spread in Albania and influenced to use the Albanian language in the religious services. It was used by all the Albanologists of the nineteenth century, for the study of Albanian. In this work, but also with other writings and translations, Vangjel Meksi has entered in our history as the forerunner of our Renaissance, in the Albanisation of the Albanian language.
