On April 2nd, 1914 in the city of Korca, happened an armed coup organized by the Greek chauvinists. The putschists tried to expel the Albanian administration and invade the city. The Albanian gendarmerie, under the command of Dutch Major Snellen and corps of volunteers with whom were joined hundreds of villagers, under the leadership of Themistokli Germenj suppressed the coup within a short time.
