Rifat Berisha, along with the two brothers, Mustafa and Hilmiu, were killed by agents of the Yugoslav UDB in Gajark of Malisheva on May 17, 1949. He was an officer of the Albanian Army, vice president of the National Liberation Council of the former Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, president of the National Liberation Front and MP of the Parliament of Yugoslavia. The President of the Republic of Albania has decorated the martyr Rifat Berisha, with the Class I Flag Order, for a special contribution to the National Liberation War.
