On January 17th, 1703 the Church of St. John in Mergi, near Durres was held the Assembly of Arber. In the materials of this gathering, is encountered for the first time the word “schipp” (Albanian). The document states that the doctrine of Belarmino was “shtampuem shchipp”. Below is the expression me i thanë shchipp “and “a din schipp”. The document is important for the history of the origin of our country name, our nation and language.
