On January 13th, 1945, the National Bank of Albania, was nationalized by the National Anti-Fascist Council and was replaced with the State Bank of Albania. As it is known the National Bank was established in September 1925, based on the agreement on the Italian-Albanian Bank and Svea loan, concluded between the Government of Albania and the Italian financial group. Its nominal capital was 12,500,000 gold francs. The Albanian entities owned only 49% of the shares, while the rest belonged to foreign shareholders.
