In Bari, Italy, on December 13th, 1929 passed away the freedom fighter, patriot and pedagogue Rexhep Demi, student and sequential of the work of Hasan Tahsini. His house in Filat, Chameria, was the cradle for “Vëllazëria” club and Albanian school. There was taught ABC and the fight for freedom. For his patriotic activity, Rexhep Demi in 1908, was imprisoned by the Ottoman invaders, and in 1915 from the Greek chauvinists. But all this didn’t broke him. During the anti ottoman uprising in years 1911-1912, he sided with gun in hand at Muharrem Rushiti çeta; in November 1912, it was among them, who signed the “Act of Independence” in Vlora. After 1917, he served as a teacher in Konispol, Gjirokastra and elsewhere.
