The Turks, after invading all of Albania and securing peace with Venice, undertook the expedition for the invasion of Rome and all of Italy. About 10,000 soldiers, commanded by Gjedik Ahmet Pasha, departing from Vlora landed on the lands of the Kingdom of Naples and on August 11, 1480, invaded Otranto’s fortress. The occupation of Ottoman troops in Italy shook the whole of Christian Europe. Most urgently, a European coalition was created. Meanwhile, in the background, Albanians, organized in armed clashes, attacked Turkish garrisons and caravans, making it impossible to advance the Turkish expedition to Italy. So the Albanian swords once again saved European civilization from Ottoman invasions.
